The Equity Stop
Welcome to the new SIDEBAR column from the
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee!
We would like to start out by thanking all who
participated in the DEI Title Competition and
congratulating Chloe Mullen-Wilson for the
winning title - The Equity Stop!
DID YOU KNOW?

Mental health is as important as physical
health and it is time we stop minimizing
the importance of staying mentally healthy and seeking help when
we feel like we need it. There used to be a stigma associated with
seeking counseling or therapy and, unfortunately, there still is
to some extent. That is exactly why we need to talk about it, we
need to create awareness, and we need to address it. The Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion committee asked its members for some
things to do to stay mentally healthy:
1. If a task is too large and overwhelming, break it down into
smaller and more manageable steps.
2. Take a break and breath in some fresh air.
3. Prioritize your sleeping habits.
4. Sit down and listen to your favorite music.
5. Play your favorite sport or get into a new one you have been
wanting to try.
6. Take 30 minutes or an hour and exercise.
7. Make tasty, yet healthy treats. Pinterest will be your best
friend for this one!
8. Get a pet! Your furry partner will force you to get up and be
active while providing you with emotional support.
It is easy to say " I don't have time " but at some point, the stress,
anxiety, and frustration will catch up with you. For this and many
reasons, it is important to dedicate time to yourself, take a break,
disconnect, and enjoy all this beautiful planet has to offer.

What: Wills for Seniors Event. On September 29, 2021, the Diversity
Equity, and Inclusion and Elder Law Committees will team
up with volunteer attorneys from the Montgomery Bar Association
and the Senior Law Center to offer a free simple will, durable
power of attorney, and advance medical directive to Seniors.
