ummer is the carefree season. A season to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It is for
spending time in the company of others, at BBQs, graduation parties, baseball
games, swim meets or simply hanging out by the water. Schedules do not seem
so important during the summer. As attorneys we are often ruled by our schedules;
some might say that without our schedules we would be lost. However, this summer
we are filled with joie de vivre. (It is almost as if we just completed a 14-month self
quarantine period!) There is an eagerness to see friends and colleagues we have only
been seeing on a computer monitor.
The MBA Board of Directors held its first in-person meeting since March of 2020.
To say that the Directors were happy to see each other would be an understatement.
The atmosphere at the Board meeting was positively euphoric, with everyone talking at
once. It was truly a joy to watch everyone connecting with such enthusiasm. Perhaps,
our intent to socialize and travel is due in part to our understanding that the courts
across Pennsylvania are opening up. As the courts begin to tackle the backlog of cases,
we attorneys know that our schedules are going to become hectic, and may in fact
become unmanageable at times. Similar to when we were kids, we want to pack in as
much fun and good times as we can before the Fall season and the inevitable crush of
our workloads overwhelm us.
