MCAP: what's going on
and what's coming up

MCAP honors the Honorable
Valerie A. Arkoosh, MD, MPH,
at Salute to Heroes Dinner
Dance & Auction! MCAP held
its 9th annual Salute to Heroes
fundraising event on Saturday,
November 16th, at the Sheraton
Valley Forge Hotel. More than
200 members of the local legal
community as well as family and
friends gathered to celebrate the
Honorable Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County
Board of Commissioners, for her dedication and service to the
children and families of Montgomery County. Guests also toasted
MCAP's 140 volunteer attorney advocates for the thousands of
hours they donate each year to their MCAP cases. The event -
which included silent and live auctions, delicious food and drink,
dancing, and a photo booth - raised critical funds for MCAP's
work to provide free legal services to child victims of abuse, neglect,
and trafficking in Montgomery County. Next year's Salute to
Heroes is already on the books for Saturday, November 14, 2020 -
please save the date!

You can earn one CLE credit for five hours of MCAP pro bono
service, for a maximum of up to three credits for 15 total hours!

Goodbye 2019, hello 2020!
At the start of this new year, MCAP would like to say thank
you to all of our MCAP advocates. As you know, the number
of children we serve has risen tremendously - at the time of this
writing, we have already served 597 child victims of abuse, neglect,
and trafficking. And these children are coming to us with more
complex histories than we have ever experienced before. We cannot
thank our MCAP advocates enough for the time, talent, and heart
they give to each of their cases. If you are not an MCAP Advocate
and would like to join their ranks, please email pteaford@mcapkids.
org to be put on the list to receive information about upcoming
CLEs.

Montgomery Child Advocacy Project's (MCAP) mission is to end and prevent child abuse and neglect in Montgomery County through legal
services, advocacy, and education. MCAP operates as a pro-bono model with 140+ professional attorneys (trained by MCAP) on our roster who
donate approximately 8,000 hours to our child clients' cases each year. Since our founding in 2004, MCAP has provided free legal services for
