Members on the Move...
James Klena, M.D., recently joined Geisinger Community Medical Center
(GCMC) as a cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Klena is trained in minimally invasive
surgical techniques and specializes in surgery of the lungs, esophagus, and
trachea, including cancers in these organs. Additionally, he specializes in coronary
artery bypass surgery, deformities of the chest and unilateral pleural effusions.
Diedra Amendola McCafferty, D.O., has recently joined Geisinger
Community Medical Center (GCMC) as a wound care specialist. Dr. McCafferty
will see patients in GCMC's Center for Wound Care and Hyberbaric Medicine.

Christine Policare, M.D., recently joined Geisinger Health System as
a diagnostic radiologist. Board certified in radiology, Policare specializes
in breast imaging, including mammography and tomosynthesis (3D
mammography), breast ultrasound, breast MRI, MRI-guided breast biopsy,
ultrasound guided breast biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy. Her
services also include abdominal imaging and ultrasound guided procedures.
Lori Williams, M.D., recently joined the team of providers at Wayne
Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC). Dr. Williams, a board
certified internist, provides outpatient primary care for established patients
by appointment as well as walk-in care on a rotational basis at the Hamlin
Family Health Center.

Lackawanna County Medical Society is hosting its 13th annual health
fair - First Friday Scranton Health Fair - on Courthouse Square in
downtown Scranton on Friday, June 2 from 6-9pm. Free and open to the
public, the health fair features over 70 vendors promoting good health,
emphasizing the practice of good health habits, and showcasing the excellent medical care available locally. Free health screenings and giveaways.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18, 2017

The Lackawanna County Medical Society will be hosting a Members'
Family Night with the SWB Rail Riders on Friday, August 18, 2017 at
PNC Field. Members should watch their email and the Events page
of the LCMS website (www.lackmedsoc.org) for more information.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2017

Lackawanna County Medical Society will host its 3rd Annual Golf
Tournament and Clambake at Glenmaura National Golf Club. The
event will include a light luncheon, an 18-hole scramble, a cocktail
reception, a clambake, and an awards ceremony. Registration begins
at 11am with a 12pm shotgun start. For more information on the golf

OCTOBER 13-15, 2017

Each year the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Medical Society
convenes in Hershey, PA to set the Society's policies through resolutions
and reports. The 2017 Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) House of
Delegates & Annual Education Conference will be held October 13-15,
2017 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
