" If you meet all the criteria, you don't need an X-ray, " Habboushe
said.

* PECARN Rule: " They have a PECARN rule for head trauma
for pediatrics, " Habboushe said. " They have a PECARN rule for
newborns that have fevers and how to work that out. PECARN
might have 3 or 4 rules put on. They do a lot of work to create
those 3 or 4 rules. "
* Ottawa Ankle Rule: Rules out clinically significant foot and
ankle fractures to reduce the use of X-ray imaging.
* Creatinine Clearance (Cockcroft-Gault Equation): Figures out
how to get medication with abnormal renal functions.
