Editor's note: Here is a
spotlight on a Philadelphia

medical resident.
PCMS Medical Resident Meera
Chatterjee provides answers to
some questions about her thoughts
and experiences so far in her career:
Question: Why did you choose this
medical residency, and what drew
you to Philadelphia?
Answer: I attended medical school in
Camden, so I was already living in the area.
I chose Temple for residency for a variety
of reasons, but especially because I thought
it would give me the best training while
providing a warm, supportive environment.
Question: What do you like most
about practicing medicine so far?
Answer: I like so many things about
practicing medicine! It's gratifying to see
my skills and body of knowledge grow over
time, and then be able to utilize that to help
my patients.
Meera Chatterjee
Question: Are you involved in any
community, nonprofit or professional
organizations? If so, please
list the groups.
Answer: I volunteer with the New Jersey
Tree Foundation, where we plant trees in
underserved neighborhoods in New Jersey.
I'm also involved with the Psychoanalytic
Center of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia
Psychiatric Society.
Question: What are your hobbies
and interests when you're not
working?
IAnswer: I absolutely love music and spend
a lot of time searching for new music and
artists. I've always enjoyed being outside and
hiking, but I appreciate it so much more after
the restrictions of COVID-19.
Question: For what reason(s) did
you become a member of the Philadelphia
County Medical Society,
and what do you value most about
your membership?
Answer: As a resident, it can be easy to
focus on issues pertaining to my program and
hospital system. Reading the updates from the
Philadelphia County Medical Society gives
me perspective on the issues that may affect
me once I become an attending. *
