PVMA Keystone Veterinarian Fall 2020 - 31
George B. Wolff Legislative Leadership Award: Dr. Mary Jane McNamee
This award is presented to a PVMA Member veterinarian or veterinary student who has shown
dedicated leadership in legislative advocacy at the state or federal level. This year's winner is
Dr. MJ McNamee. MJ, who is not only a veterinarian, but also holds a law degree, is the Chair of
PVMA's Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy Committee (LRAC). She is tireless in her efforts to
ensure that veterinary medicine has a voice in state and federal government. In 2019, she played
a key role in educating state legislators on PVMA's concerns about Victoria's Law. As a result,
Senator Gene Yaw is sponsoring a bill, suggested by MJ, that will create an animal welfare task
force. MJ continues to advocate for veterinary practices' status as essential during the COVID-19
pandemic. Members of PVMA should know that we have someone who is passionate and
dedicated to advocating for the profession as Chair of LRAC. Thank you, MJ, for everything you
do. Congratulations MJ!
Veterinary Assistant of the Year Award: Ms. Katie Mordan

This year's award goes to Katie Mordan from Animal Emergency Center (AEC) of Watsontown.
She works tirelessly to ensure that high-quality medicine and surgeries are provided to
patients of AEC. This is a very stressful and demanding environment, but her calm demeanor
and unparalleled work ethic ensures that all patients in her care receive the very best,
quality veterinary care that they deserve. Not only is she a veterinary assistant, she is also
AEC's practice manager, and assists with all those duties of managing an emergency center.
Congratulations Katie!
