2021 Hall of Fame Winners
George B. Wolff Legislative
Leadership Award: Andrew
Hoffman, DVM, DVSc,
DACVIM
A PVMA Member Veterinarian or
Veterinary Student who has shown
dedicated leadership in legislative
advocacy at the state or federal
level.
Dr. Andrew Hoffman has been Dean of Penn Vet since 2018.
Throughout his tenure, he has been a champion of advancing
veterinary medicine as a vital component of public health. Penn
Vet is at the forefront of offering joint degrees in Veterinary
Medicine and other professional disciplines such as public
health, human healthcare, social policy, business, and law. As
a result, graduating VMDs are better prepared to contribute to
global health and welfare. During the height of the COVID-19
pandemic, Dean Hoffman was a leading voice in increasing the
visibility of veterinarians as trained healthcare providers. When
Pennsylvania was facing the daunting effort of vaccinating all of
its citizens, the Dean was the driving force behind Senate Bill 285
including veterinarians as eligible healthcare providers to receive
training and authorization in administering COVID-19-approved
vaccines. The bill ultimately did not move from committee,
but veterinarians were designated by the PA Department
of Health as approved providers to administer vaccinations.
This designation is an important step in recognizing that
veterinarians play a key role in keeping Pennsylvanians healthy.
Congratulations, Dean Hoffman!
Practice Manager of the
Year Award: Ashley Elliott,
CVT
A PVMA Practice Manager
Member who has exhibited
excellence and leadership in the
field of practice management.
As Practice Manager of Animal Hospital of Chester County,
Ashley Elliott helped oversee and coordinate the sale of
one hospital and the purchase of a second. Through the
COVID-19 pandemic, she helped grow the practice and offered
constructive solutions to keep clients, staff, and patients safe.
When significant staffing issues could have impacted the ability
of the hospital to remain open, Ashely was integral to its ability
to continue treating patients. Ashely uses her experiences as
a CVT to train the staff on a deeper level, foster a cohesive
working environment, and fight fiercely to protect the team
at work from the difficulties of every day veterinary life. She
coordinates and oversees schedules, meetings, payroll, bill
payment, staff benefits, and client outreach. She continues to
seek out additional learning opportunities for herself and the

hospital. Ashley is loyal, smart, and comes to work with a smile
on her face (behind her mask) bringing laughter and humor into
the workplace. Congratulations, Ashley!
Public Service Award of
Merit: Marisa Brunetti,
VMD
A PVMA Member who has
provided outstanding public
service involving the veterinary
community.
As Chief Medical Officer at IndeVets, Dr. Marisa Brunetti played
a vital role in securing the safety of a team of 80 veterinarians
during the pandemic. She developed detailed protocols
around workplace safety and tirelessly updated and shared this
information with the doctors as well as with the 800+ partner
hospitals. Many of those partner hospitals utilized portions
of her protocols for their own employees. As a result of Dr.
Brunetti's work, her colleagues practiced safely and without
health injury. Her contribution to the veterinary community
is widespread and most certainly impacted the profession's
commitment to serving the public. Congratulations, Dr. Brunetti!
Veterinarian of the Year
Award: Marc J. Daniel, DVM
A PVMA Member who has
exemplified outstanding service
in veterinary medicine within the
calendar year.
Dr. Marc Daniel has a mission to change how a practice owner
approaches supporting the team fiscally and compassionately,
which in turn promotes the individual's desires to focus on
caring for the patients and clients the practice serves. He
observed how staff in every department was suffering from
burnout and compassion fatigue. As owner of Brandywine
Valley Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Daniel was determined to make
veterinary medicine an industry where people love coming to
work again by building a foundation for a great culture through
fiscal security. Dr. Daniel believes when your staff is supported
and given generous income or other benefits, then they can
feel more secure with personal fiscal demands at home.
Congratulations, Dr. Daniel!
Veterinary Assistant of the
Year Award: Heather V.
Hunchuck
A PVMA Veterinary Assistant
Member who has provided
outstanding service in the past
year.
