Dog Prom Raises Funds for Pets
in Need
PVMA Members at Holiday House Pet
Resort & Training Center, held its annual
Dog Prom on Friday, May 14, 2021.
Clients of their dog daycare program
participated in this special fundraising
event, which generously raised money
for Animal Care PA (ACPA), PVMA's
charitable arm. " Animal Care PA is
grateful for Holiday House Pet Resort &
Training Center's generosity for choosing
us as their charity of choice for their Dog
Prom. Their benevolence comes at a very
crucial time for our programs. Due to the
pandemic, the need for our programs
has skyrocketed, while at the same time,
donations plummeted. Spending for our
programs has increased by 55%, while
donations fell by more than 62%, leaving
our programs at risk of not continuing
without the support and generosity from
those at the Holiday House Pet Resort
& Training, " said Jennifer A. Keeler, CAE,
ACPA Executive Director.
The resort daycare was transformed
into a medieval castle surrounded by
blooming spring gardens for a royal
festival. Knights, princesses, and
court jesters gathered around the
May Pole, and had official portraits
taken. Throughout the afternoon they
participated in enrichment activities
with flirt poles and hoops adorned with
colorful ribbons. At the end of the event,
the dogs and the pet parents received
gourmet biscuits and popcorn party
favors created by Clusters Popcorn in
Peddler's Village, PA.
" Helping pets and organizations
throughout our community has always
been a shared mission among our resort
family. We are extremely fortunate to
have generous clients who support our
efforts by participating in the special
events we create for their dogs. The

PVMA Members are interacting with and
educating the next generation of veterinary
professionals, and we want to hear about it.
On April 22, 2021, Middletown Area High
School hosted a virtual Shadow Day for
students to interact with professionals in
a variety of career fields. Animal Hospital
of Dauphin County, a PVMA Practice
Member, was pleased to have two of their
team members volunteer to speak with
the students on why they chose a career
in veterinary medicine, what high school
courses and secondary education helped
them on this path, and what challenges
and rewards they experience in their
chosen careers.

PVMA Featured at AVMA's
Veterinary Leadership Conference
On November 7, 2020, PVMA held a
virtual Summit session called " Education
for Future Veterinary Professionals
in the Age of COVID-19. " During this
session, academic leaders discussed how
veterinary education has been affected
by COVID-19, as well as their solutions for
educating future veterinary professionals.
