PVMA Keystone Veterinarian Winter 2020 - 11

After much discussion and contemplation, PVMA determined
that it could not support the Senate Bill 44, which the
Humane Society calls "Victoria's Law." Please take the time
to read our position statement in order to fully understand
our thought process. This bill is very unlikely to be passed as
many lawmakers agree with our position. To read the entire

In 2020, your LRAC looks forward to improving connections
with you through social media platforms, or perhaps via a
software application. Please stay tuned, as we figure out the
best way to engage with you about the political issues that
face the profession, in a more timely way. The Committee's
hope is that this will encourage more of you to join us as
active members. Our long-terms goals are to make more
of a grassroots impact, by visiting legislators in their local
offices. Electronic communication will help us to build a
network of up-to-speed veterinarians who are willing to
educate legislators on home turf, not just as stewards of
the profession, but also as constituents. We think this will
be more impactful, and be of less time commitment, while
simultaneously fostering one-on-one relationships.
Our lobbyist, Patricia Mackavage of Duane Morris
Government Strategies, LLC (DMGS), and I continue to
monitor for legislation that affects the agricultural and
equine industries, as well as aquaculture. Please continue

to report illegal practice of veterinary medicine. There is
strength in numbers, and the more complaints, the more
clout.
