2. What is your area of practice?
Small animal general practice
3. How many pets do you have and what are their names?
I currently have three cats, Fox, Minnie, and Moonpie. I have
one fish named Marty McFly and an accompanying snail
named Snail with the Mail.
4. What is your most memorable veterinary practice
experience?
My most memorable veterinary practice experiences are
numerous. I'll never forget the day I brought home a young
morbidly obese tortoiseshell who was an owner surrender to
my practice. She was slated for euthanasia due to uroliths. I
watched her maneuver her portly frame into the best position
for air biscuits while she sat in my practice cage and fell in
love with her. I wasn't going to let her die that day. She came
home with me after surgery and I had every intention of
placing her in a new home. After post-operative snuggles with
my husband, he said, "She's not leaving us, is she?" And the
rest is history.
5. Why did you get involved in PVMA?
The veterinary landscape is rapidly changing. Public
perception, social media, depression and suicide, and
practitioners leaving full-time practice have significant
ramifications for the future of veterinary medicine. I am
involved with the PVMA because it's imperative to stay
involved at the level of policy and procedure to affect the
change we need in our profession.
