A Message from the President

Happy New Year PVMA! You will notice that Keystone Veterinarian magazine has a

fresh new design, a Pennsylvania-based new publisher and a new editor. The magazine will have
the same great content, just a new look and feel! I value your feedback to all of the changes,
good or bad. Back in August I spoke at the Annual Membership Meeting as to what I had
planned for the year. I had promised transparency and honesty. One thing I had asked of you
was to embrace change with me!
It is not only our magazine that is changing. PVMA has yet endured another change in
leadership. After eleven months, Christian Malesic and PVMA decided we were not the best fit
for one another. Membership and affiliate relationships are our priority. PVMA is resilient and
strong and will continue to move forward. Over the next year PVMA will be led by another front
runner in the race for Executive Director that took place around this time last year, Jennifer
Keeler, CAE.
Jennifer is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with over twenty years of association and
corporate management experience. She has a special interest in board development and
governance. Jennifer has a direct connection to veterinary medicine, as many years ago her
father held the role of President of our Association. The veterinary profession has a very special
place in her heart. As the daughter of a veterinarian, she explains she saw first-hand the impact
that her father had on her community. Jennifer is a dedicated servant leader.
At our Annual Membership Meeting, I also assured a closer look at the committees in place,
and to develop new committees where needed. Our current committees are listed as follows
and are in need of participating members. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are
interested in serving or need an explanation of the needs and roles of these committees at

Over the last six months the Bylaws Review Task Force has been working very
diligently on Constitution and Bylaws changes. These changes will be
presented to you as soon as the editing is complete. During this review I was
reminded of PVMA's mission, core purpose, vision, core values and objectives.
Following are our proposed changes.
