that even gurus are human. Erica McKerns, studio manager 1601560
and teacher, feels that Joel veils much of his yoga knowledge
in mystery to keep people interested and coming back. She
appreciates his ability to ask uncomfortable questions and yet
make people feel completely comfortable answering them.
He is a kind man - he recently sent a case of manual can
openers to Puerto Rico, for example. Erica believes he is a
true healer in the way he connects with his students, and she
feels we are lucky to have a master yoga teacher and healer
in our community. She also mentioned the cows and said
she is 99% sure he has a pet cow on a farm nearby, a tidbit
that lends itself to Joel's mysterious nature.

From a student's perspective, I can attest that I
have become competent in most of the poses
in record time thanks to Joel. He focuses on
new students in the room, which at first may
seem intimidating, but quickly turns to gratitude
for his willingness to share his knowledge.
He gives gentle encouragement and adjustment and will
take all the time necessary with a new student, even as veteran students wait patiently in their poses, dripping sweat
in the 115 degree room. It has been a pleasure getting to
know Joel in the past year. I have free guest passes...why
don't we go together? Until then, see you in the hot room.
