County better bear the financial burden and focus on their education.
It is important that we continue to foster the education and growth of
our future healers.
One area we have been focusing on locally is providing educational
opportunities to members, as well as the opportunity to connect with local
political leaders. The Pennsylvania Medical Society provides excellent
online resources, advocates at the state and national level continuously,
and also provides valuable CME. We have focused on complementing
those resources and have had the opportunity to host events over this past
year, including an amazing CME lecture focusing on Legal Depositions,
attend Pennsylvania Medical Society House of Delegates meeting in
Hershey, PA and collaborate with local elected officials. We have also
continued to refine our quarterly magazine, sending paper copies as well
as having an online version available on our website.
During this past year, one of the most amazing experiences has been
seeing physicians from across different organizations, specialties, and
stages in their career come together. This has become even more evident
during our time combatting COVID-19. We all have common goals
and desires - ensuring our patients receive timely, safe, and equitable
care. I am optimistic we will use this pandemic to continue to further
our collaboration. When we speak with one voice, we are able to enact
change to benefit all of York County residents.
My time as President has come to an end, but our society is
fortunate to have Dr. Paul Burcher succeeding me in volunteering his
time and talents in this role. Dr. Burcher is a practicing Obstetrician
and Gynecologist who is also the Program Director of the OB/GYN
residency at WellSpan York Hospital. Please join me in welcoming him
to this role. Dr. Burcher, thank you for taking on this role and we all
wish you the best as you meet this new challenge.
