the HBA of Berks County
I could go on and on forever after all these years and mention
several individuals I had the pleasure of working with on the
board, committees, events or even doing business with. Some of
them have become friends, and some were mentors. The Home
Builders Association has done well for my business.

Back in the early '80s I had the pleasure of sitting at the
crazy table as we called it for HBA events. I became good
friends with two of the members at the table. One of them
was John Carabello, who was one of the funniest guys I
knew.
We were at an HBA PAC event at the Berkshire Country
Club, which was a black-tie affair. Cocktail hour went too
long and we were seated late for dinner. He and I decided
to call Domino's Pizza to deliver as a gag, and we used a
telephone booth none-the-less.
After convincing them to bring the pizza to the Country
Club, which was filled with about 200 well-dressed individuals, we had the delivery person place a napkin over his
arm and hold the pizza over his head and deliver it to our
table. We received tons of laughs and could eat the pizza a
half hour before dinner was even served.
My friend passed away recently, but I will always
remember how he made others and myself laugh. If it were
not for being a member of the association, I may never have
had the opportunity of knowing him. I have been a member
for 37 years and through that time have met a lot of great
people. All what is listed at right happened because I joined
the HBA of Berks County.
