Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

C

elebrating the 60th anniversary of the
Home Builders Association of Berks
County this year provides a good opportunity to reflect on where we've been and where
we are going.
Since we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2007, we went
through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and our industry was particularly negatively affected.
Fortunately, conditions have improved, and we're hoping for
continued growth for the building industry.

Meanwhile, the HBA has continued to provide a voice
for the home building industry, to support its members and
to work with students from our area career and technology
centers who represent the future of our industry.
We are a strong organization with committed members
who have represented the HBA for many years. Right now, we
have 26 members who have belonged for 30 years or longer,
including one member who's been on the books for 50 years.
Sure, we face some of the same challenges that many
other organizations do. People are busy and it can be hard to
identify members who have the time and willingness to fill
big roles within the HBA. Still, we watch each year as many
people throughout the community join together to make our
Restoring Hope project a success, and as our members get to
showcase their best work during the Parade of Homes.
