HOW FAR HAS THE PROFESSIONAL WOMEN IN
BUILDING COUNCIL COME IN LESS THAN A YEAR?
To be able to charter a Professional Women in Building Council
you must first have at least five members, a mission statement,
by-laws and have the support of the local Home Builders Board.
The Home Builders Association of Berks County Board of
Directors, at its regular meeting on March 22, 2016, voted to
endorse the chartering of a Professional Women in Building
Council. In August 2016 at the Midyear National Association
of Home Builders PWB Council Trustees Board Meeting
the Berks County Professional Women in Building Council
received its Council Charter. Accepting the Council Charter
Plague was Cathy Sloan our then 2015 Vice President who
was present for the meeting.
Since being chartered we have grown from five members to
eleven which is over 100% growth. However, we would love
to see more women interested in joining us and helping us
with our events or programs to become more involved in the
community and give back.
Here are just a few that
the Council is working on;
* Collecting gently used and/or new handbags for a Bingo
event.
* A 'Dress for Success' event in 2018. They have already
received donations of business clothing for the event.
There is already a donation of a venue to hold the event.
* An Easter Egg Hunt in 2018 to be arranged at a shelter.

AT HOME IN BERKs June 2017
The council continues to work on ways to grow the
membership as well as ways to give back to the community.
The council meets by-monthly as of right now, but always has
the option of meeting more often for planning their events. The
council membership consists of the following women:

Cathy Sloan - Hartman's Home Improvements
PWB Councils purpose is:
PWB Councils across the nation support their home builder
associations and HBA members in a great many ways. Among
these benefits is the ability of state and local Councils to:
* Recruit and retain members. Involved members remain
members. By providing additional benefits to women in
the building industry, PWB councils encourage member
involvement. Many councils have demonstrated to their
associations that not only does a council recruit HBA/BIA
members to join the council; PWB councils provide an
incentive for women in the industry to join the association.
