Bryan Ormond, Assistant Professor, TECS/
TPACC, Wilson College of Textiles, North
Carolina State University
Dr. Bryan Ormond's expertise on respiratory
protection for fire fighters is in high demand
as manufacturers ramp up production of
face masks. Bring your questions on the
mechanisms behind air filtration, face mask
testing and mask design.

10-10:45 am
Ask an Expert: Medical Textiles
Martin King, Professor, TECS, Wilson College
of Textiles, North Carolina State University
Dr. Martin King has been a leader in the broad
field of medical textiles for decades. From
wound care and sutures to vascular grafts and
tissue scaffolding, he's seen it all. Join us for a
unique opportunity to pick the brain of a worldrenowned expert in textiles for healthcare.

1-1:45 pm
Ask an Expert: Textile Electronics
Product Design
Amanda Mills, Senior Design Project
Coordinator & NEXT Fusion Designer,
North Carolina State University
Intrigued by the world of smart garments and
electronic textiles but don't know where to
begin? In this session, we will cover smart garment product design as well as discuss common
integration and manufacturing challenges.

Jesse Jur, Professor, Textile Technology
Program Director, TECS, Wilson College
of Textiles, North Carolina State University
Standards have long been a vital resource for
communicating and validating textile materials
and products. With the evolution of textile-based
electronics (e-textiles), the complexity of the
product interfaces electronics standards with
textile standards. As important is the definition
of the use case by which standards should be
developed for consumer confidence and improving
the performance of the advanced function of the
e-textile. A high level overview of the e-textile
standards strategy is provided in combination
with example from the NEXT research team at
NC State's Wilson College of Textiles.

3-3:45 pm
Ask an Expert: Rapid Prototyping
and Textile Product Development
Andre West, Director, Zeis Textiles Extension,
Associate Professor, Wilson College of Textiles,
North Carolina State University
The time between concept development and
getting a product to market is known as the
valley of death. Bridging this valley through
the use of innovative equipment and smart
product design is essential to a successful
product launch. Join Dr. Andre West to learn
about the latest concepts around textile
product development and rapid prototyping
to create a minimum viable product.
