IGS launches university
lecture series
Students can hear from some of the
International Geosynthetics Society's
(IGS's) most eminent experts via new
university lecture series videos. The
30-to-60-minute recorded talks aim to
widen access to and understanding of
geosynthetics for those at the start of
their engineering careers, particularly
senior undergraduates and graduate students.
The content has been developed
by experts at the IGS and its technical

CNH Industrial to acquire
Raven Industries
U.K.-based CNH Industrial N.V.
announced that it has entered into an
agreement to acquire 100% of the capital
stock of Raven Industries Inc. The transaction
will be funded with available cash
on hand of CNH Industrial. Closing is
expected to occur in the fourth quarter of
2021, subject to the satisfaction of customary
closing conditions, including approval
of Raven shareholders and receipt of regulatory
approvals. An Italian-American
corporation, CNH Industrial is headquartered
in Basildon, U.K., and Raven
Industries is headquartered in Sioux Falls,
S.D. The acquisition builds upon a long
partnership between the two companies
and will further enhance CNH Industrial's
position in the global agriculture equipment
market by adding strong innovation
capabilities in autonomous and precision
agriculture technology. The acquisition
includes the Raven Industries division
Raven Engineered Films, a manufacturer
of geosynthetics.

NAUE launches design
software for temporary
working platforms
The geosynthetics manufacturer NAUE
GmbH & Co. KG is offering new design
software on its website. The NAUE
Platform Software provides a quick and
simple design tool for geogrid-stabilized
and reinforced working platforms. The correct
design of working platforms is decisive
for the stability and the operational safety
on the platform. NAUE has recognized the
need for action and provides a design tool
for stabilized and reinforced working platforms
with the NAUE Platform Software.
On the basis of scientific research using
large-scale model testing, a holistic design
approach for Secugrid and Combigrid stabilized
and reinforced working platforms

Sun Shading Expo North
America moves co-location
debut with IFAI Expo to 2022
Messe Stuttgart announced that its new
U.S.-based show, Sun Shading Expo
North America, will not be held in 2021
as a separate trade show but will instead
contribute its expertise in internal and
external sun shading systems at IFAI
Expo 2021 in the form of expert talks,
open discussions and more. The premiere
of Sun Shading Expo North America will
be held Oct. 12-14, 2022, co-locating
with IFAI Expo 2022 in Charlotte, N.C.
IFAI Expo 2021, the leading trade fair for
specialty fabrics and technical textiles,
will celebrate its 100th in-person anniversary,
Nov. 2-4, 2021, with education Nov.
1-4, in Nashville, Tenn., at the Music City
Convention Center.
FC Géosynthétiques acquires
Innovex Produits Techniques Inc.
FC Géosynthétiques, a geosynthetics
installer, announced the acquisition
of Innovex Produits Techniques Inc., a
company specializing in the distribution
of geosynthetic materials, and Hydrosol
Construction. This acquisition will allow
FC Géosynthétiques to strengthen its positioning
and leadership in the geosynthetic
product installation market while enhancing
its offerings. This acquisition will also
allow FC Géosynthétiques to facilitate the
distribution of its products and support
its growth with clients in the private and
public sectors, in Quebec, Canada, and
internationally. In the transaction, FC
Géosynthétiques also acquires the assets
of Hydrosol Construction Inc., Innovex's
specialist contractor dedicated to the
installation of geosynthetic products.
Uzzell becomes CEO
of the National Society
of Black Engineers
The National Society of Black Engineers
(NSBE) announced the selection of veteran
technology executive, engineer and
longtime NSBE member Janeen Uzzell as
its CEO, a newly created position for the
society. Uzzell has taken responsibility for
executing NSBE's newly refreshed strategic
plan, titled " Game Change 2025. " Launched
in February, the strategic plan seeks to sustain
and increase the significant progress
NSBE has made during the past five years
toward its primary strategic goal: to partner
with higher education institutions to graduate
10,000 new Black engineers annually in
the U.S. by 2025. The plan builds on NSBE's
long-standing social justice consciousness
and activism to transform the organization,
STEM and broader society.
