This deferment
extension is effective
for all COVID-EID
loans approved in
calendar years 2020,
2021 and 2022.
Application process and
fraud control enhancements
In addition to the policy enhancements, the
SBA has invested in optimized processes
and increased capacity to improve the
customer service experience for applicants.
Directed by Guzman to swiftly and drastically
enhance COVID- EIDL, the revamped
management team implemented new
processes and performance management,
such as prioritizing personnel for COVIDEIDL
and increasing the average number of
application decisions made. At the time, the
SBA accelerated daily processing of loan
increases from close to 2,000 applications
to more than 37,000 applications. Loan
oficer productivity also went from 1.86
applications per day to 15 applications
per day. As a result of these increased loan
review rates, the 600,000+ loan increase
backlog was cleared, and new applications
were processed immediately.
At the same time, and to ensure taxpayer
dollars are used to support businesses that
need COVID-EIDL funding most, the SBA
increased fraud controls and is working
in collaboration with the SBA Inspector
General to closely monitor the program.

Advanced Textiles Association new name for IFAI
The Industrial Fabrics Association International has adopted a new name, the
Advanced Textiles Association, effective June 1.
The name change was approved by a vote of association members in March and
April, with 85.6 percent of members voting for the new name. Association bylaws
require the approval of two-thirds of those returning ballots. The results were
audited by Clifton Larson Allen.
" This is an exciting time for our great association, " says IFAI Chairman Amy

Bircher. " President and CEO Steve Schiffman and his staff have worked hard to
meet the needs of our members in inding a name that relects the vision for our
future, yet still honoring the past and the importance of our history. "
The new name relects the evolving textile industry and is designed to position the
association to meet the needs of members and the industry. The board of directors,
staff and industry partners have been researching the IFAI brand for more than a
year, with the goal of ensuring the association is well-positioned for the future.
" There has been discussion about a name change for several years at the board
of directors level, " said president & CEO Steve Schiffman. " We wanted a name that
is more inclusive, easier to remember, and relects advances in and the future of all
the industries we currently serve and will serve in the future. "
That market research and discussion with members found the need for a new
brand. After more than 40 years as IFAI, the updated name not only speaks to those
core markets, but also relects the fact that members are working in markets that may
not be readily identiied as " industrial fabrics. "
