Project Description: The client's instructions
were to " make it bitchin'. " This client changed
his mind often and was vague with what he
liked, making this project quite challenging.
After he initially rejected the idea of a
diamond design, detailed drawings
convinced him it was the right path. The
project execution was diffi cult with multiple
concave and complex shapes. It was very
challenging to come up with a design that
made sense and would transfer to other
parts of the boat. The unique radiating
diamond design required a template
made of acrylic, which was cut on a laser.
This made laying out the diamonds and
matching up transitions more accurate
and was also a huge time saver. Although
the challenges felt overwhelming at times,
the process and results were a reminder of
how much of a fabricator's skill set includes
artistry, and the project resolved in an
intensely creative and satisfying way.

Project Description: The clients wanted
a diamond pattern in all of the seats
and a material that is not a typical vinyl.
Spradling Silvertex has a unique texture
and colors that worked well with the
existing carpet and enclosure. One of the
biggest challenges this project posed
was incorporating the diamond stitching
around all of the middle sections of the
seat backs without having the diamonds
run off as they go through curves in the
seat. After a lot of testing, the fabrication
team found a way to allow the diamonds
to run through curved pieces without
having the shape be deformed. The
U-shaped lounger was especially
challenging. Although some may believe
the " juice isn't worth the squeeze " when
it comes to running diamond patterns
through curves, this project proves
otherwise. The clients were thoroughly
pleased with the fi nished project.

Project Description: The clients wanted
to modernize their 1999 Sea Ray
340 Sundancer with all new cockpit
upholstery and fl ooring. They wanted
the primary material to be white with
navy and gray accents in something
other than a typical vinyl, and Morbern
Sundance and Spradling Silvertex
products worked well. They requested
decorative stitching but did not want
diamonds, so the design included a
hexagon pattern. The larger seat back
in the aft section originally contained
a pull-down, which was removed and
reshaped to fi t the new design. The seat
bottoms were made completely from
scratch and used new foam that was
cut and shaped to form the U-shaped
knee lifts in the aft seating area. This
project received a lot of positive
feedback, and the clients were ecstatic
with the results. The colors, textures and
the hexagon pattern on this really look
great and the whole boat really pops.
