OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT Dramatic entrance The project was a fabric art canopy that covers the alfresco dining and entertainment area at the entrance to a large shopping center in Melbourne that underwent an AUD$490 million redevelopment in an up-andcoming suburb. The canopy is made of a total of 10 ETFE panels-six for the canopy and four that make up the skylight at the shopping center entrance. The canopy was designed to provide a welcoming and exciting ambiance and also to provide weather protection and to reduce the UV exposure for the patrons below. The client requested a bespoke feature roof structure that included custom artwork digitally printed on the ETFE that is intended to make the design synonymous with the culture of the surrounding suburbs, and which complements the flora of the alfresco dining area.
