Culp hosts donation drive for earthquake victims
C
ulp Inc., a textile company with roots in
High Point, N.C.'s furniture industry, led
a community-wide " Hands in for Haiti "
donation drive in September to help victims
of the recent earthquake in Haiti. Culp has
production facilities in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.
While the earthquake occurred in another region
of the country and did not result in any damage
or harm to the company's facilities or employees,
many Culp employees have family members who
have been affected by the disaster. " At Culp, our associates across all of our global
operations are family, and we are committed to serving the communities where we
operate, " says Iv Culp, president and CEO. Supplies such as non-perishable food items,
water, clothing and blankets were collected during the donation drive, and many local
businesses and organizations supported the relief effort.

Moss Inc. is partnering with the
SEAQAUL INITIATIVE to add an innovative
ocean plastic-based fabric solution to
its sustainable product portfolio. The
partnership has launched SustainaTex
Ocean, a fabric blend produced from
upcycled marine plastic, postconsumer
waste and recycled polyester. Graphics
produced on the SustainaTex Ocean will
be the most sustainable synthetics in
the industry, according to the company,
as they combine PVC-free gasket,
postconsumer plastic, upcycled marine
plastic and OEKO-TEX®
-compliant dye
sublimation inks.
Lenzing Group, a producer of woodbased
specialty fibers, is partnering with
Orange Fiber, an Italian company which
has patented the pulp production process
for citrus by products, to produce the
first ever TENCEL™ branded lyocell fiber
made of orange and wood pulp. The new
product aims to realize both companies'
shared vision to enhance sustainability in
the textile and fashion industry.
Global Imaging, a distributor of grand
format digital printing equipment, has
announced that it will begin distributing
PrinterEvolution products under the
original manufacturer name " ATPColor "
to simplify branding initiatives and
streamline internal operations. The
timing of the branding transition
coincides with the unveiling of the
newly redesigned ATPColor OneTex and
OnPaper digital textile printer platforms.
Spradling International Inc., a supplier
of vinyl coated fabrics, has acquired CMI
Enterprises. The transaction presents
opportunities for the business and its
employees to leverage and enhance the
company's portfolio to provide an array
of products, services and solutions
including lamination, die cutting and
high-frequency welding. The agreement
also strengthens Spradling's operational
footprint in the Midwest and the
Southeast with a presence in Elkhart,
Ind., and Forrest City, N.C.
Fil Doux Textiles, a Brooklyn, N.Y.-based
textile company, has hired Robin Love
as senior vice president of sales. Love
will harness the company's continued
momentum to further propel Fil Doux
Textiles' position as a trailblazer in
the sustainable manufacturing and
textiles segment for hospitality, cruise
and contract.
Wayne M. Yonce, 77, of Champaign, Ill.,
died on August 16, 2021, after a long
battle with Parkinson's disease with
dementia. Yonce owned and operated
Twin City Tent and Awning for more than
50 years until his retirement in 2018.
He was considered a pioneer in the
industrial fabrics industry. Throughout
his distinguished career, he served as
president of the Illinois, Indiana and
Kentucky Canvas Products Association,
chairman of the Professional Awning
Manufacturers Association, and was
a board member and an honored life
member of IFAI.
