PAINT AND COATINGS MANUFACTURING: PIGMENTS & COLOURANTS
The company's MiCRYL acrylic industrial colourants are
volumetrically controlled for use in dispensing equipment, and are
guaranteed to standardized tolerances. The strength is +/- one per
cent by volume, Hegman grind is 6.5 to 7 minimum, and shade is less
than one unit Delta E.
" MiCRYL, " the company states, " offers the most broad-based
compatibility in non-aqueous, heavy-duty maintenance and
industrial air-dry and baking systems such as acrylic, polyester,
baking alkyds, air-dry alkyds, epoxy, chlorinated rubber, vinyl
(hydroxylated), styrenated alkyds, polyurethanes, polyesters and
others.
" This formulation provides superior performance in humidity
and salt-spray tests, excellent resistance to mild alkalis and organic
acids, baking stability to approximately 30 minutes at 300 degrees
F, superior light and weather fastness. It is suitable for use in farm
implements and other exterior equipment coatings. "
The products are packaged in 6 x 946ml cartons, 18.9-liter pails, 2
x 3.79-liter pails and, by request, 200-liter drums.
Where some areas of raw material supply have undergone
considerable consolidation in recent years, there is still a broad
range of supplier companies in the pigments and colourants field.
While wide choice cannot on its own keep price hikes to a minimum,
it does mean that during the present economic cycle, end-users can
hope to weather the storm without serious loss of control of their
cost structures.
