INDUSTRY NEWS NMMA Canada Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast at Toronto International Boat Show Approximately 240 marine industry professionals turned out for the 2016 nmmA Canada recreational Boating Industry Breakfast at the toronto International Boat show. Again this year there was an interesting and informative program for the attendees. organized by nmmA Canada, and sponsored by ge Capital distribution Finance, Cottage Life and Boating Industry Canada magazine, the agenda included several valuable presentations as well as the nmmA Canada hall of Fame award presentation. Boating Industry Canada magazine managing editor Andy Adams again hosted the event and also delivered a brief presentation on the challenges of attracting more skilled marine technicians into the industry. he detailed a valuable program that is being developed by Boating ontario in partnership with the ontario ministry of tourism, Culture and sport, regional tourism organization 7 and georgian College. the program is designed to attract more young people to enter the marine industry and in particular, to seek train- Julian Brass of Notable.ca gave the Keynote presentation on how to attract, hire and train the millennial generation. 6 Boating Industry Canada Boating Industry Canada magazine Managing Editor Andy Adams hosted the event and also delivered a brief presentation on the shortage of skilled marine techs. ing at georgian College, the last educational institution in ontario with amarine specific program. the keynote presentation was delivered by Julian Brass of notable.ca who gave an important perspective on the millennial generation; how to attract, hire and train them and also how to market to this rising new economic force. the Breakfast is also the nmmA Canada Annual general meeting which was conducted by board member Brian milligen and VP sara Angel who also delivered a statistical review of the industry. Concluding the morning was the presentation by Brian milligen of the nmmA Canada hall of Fame Award. the Award was given to rick Cassels whose lengthy career at mustang survival has been distinguished by the development of a wide range of Canadian designed and manufactured PFds and safety equipment, plus rick had also devoted a tremendous amount of personal time and energy to promoting boating safety. he was instrumental in the creation of the Children's wish event in British Columbia that has now taken so many young children with disabilities out for a memorable boat ride and pirate event in Vancouver harbour. our congratulations to rick Cassels on this recognition.
