One of my chief tasks as President is to ensure LBC | Capital stays on mission. Faithfulness
to the mission means faithfulness to the Word of God. When I was a young Bible college
student, my professor asked an unforgettable question: " Will you stand over the Bible or
will the Bible stand over you? " I gladly say the Word of God stands over me, bringing joy,
wisdom, peace, courage, boldness and life. It is the lens through which I view all of reality.
About reality, Max De Pree said, " The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The
last is to say thank you. In between the two, the leader is a servant and a debtor. " I am both.
I am a servant, entrusted by God to continue leading LBC | Capital in educating Christian
students to think and to live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him
in the Church and society. These pages offer a brief glimpse into how we serve God's
purposes by pursuing excellence, pouring into the lives of our students, and taking holy
risks for the sake of equipping the next generation to live on mission for Christ in this world.
I am a debtor, obligated to the Lord, our Trustees and Corporation Board, students and
friends, to maintain the decades of faithful momentum and serve well the purposes of God
for LBC | Capital in this season. I get to do this! Thank you for that privilege.
