One goal of the women-run business is to celebrate the seashore
in general and Virginia Beach in particular.

tepping into the tasting room at
Beach Vodka is like visiting friends
at a spacious beach vacation house.
With its high ceiling, wall of windows
and generous splashes of pale teal
furniture and accents, the space sends a
definite seashore vibe. The atmosphere
is enhanced by ocean-themed décor
and knick-knacks, live plants and
natural woods. Comfy sofas and chairs
and an array of games exude a casual,
welcoming warmth.

The vodka, available throughout
Virginia and in North Carolina, comes
in a teal bottle that summons the colors
of the ocean and showcases surf and
swells, a starfish and palm trees.

" The feeling of our social media is the
relaxation you get from a beach vacation,
a fun way to connect with friends and
family, " she explains. " Our tag line is
'From our beach to yours.' I'm such a
beach girl at heart and I want to be able
to take Beach Vodka, from right here
in Virginia Beach, where I grew up, to
all of the places that I travel and share
that with other people at other beaches.
" And on a rainy, cold day or in the
middle of January, you can take out this
beautiful bright bottle and create your
own memory, one that makes you feel
like you're on vacation. "
Somers became involved with Beach
Vodka after an earlier iteration of the
business had closed in 2019.
" After meeting the previous owner, I
fell in love with the brand and wanted
to build a distillery for Beach Vodka
and give it a real home here and make
everything on site. "
