It's time to bring your geraniums inside.

Recipe or kitchen hint
OCTOBER BEANS
You will need:
1 lb of October beans (also called
cranberry beans)
8 cups water
1 medium onion, chopped
1 ham hock
2 tsp salt
Butter, ketchup and chopped raw
onions for garnish
Directions:
Rinse the beans, picking out
any bad beans, and cover with 8
cups of water. Soak 6-8 hours or
overnight. Rinse soaked beans and
place in crock pot. Add all other
ingredients and cook on low 6-8
hours. Serve with any combination
of the following: pat of butter,
splash of ketchup, chopped raw
onions. Especially good with
cornmeal mush or cornbread.
