DOUBLE PROPOSAL
Kate Golden and Andrew Holliday's love story
began on a small boat cruise in Alaska. They were
vacationing with their families when their paths
crossed. From that day forward, their fondness
for one another only grew.
Kate was actually the first to propose and
decided a fun trip to a pumpkin patch in Oklahoma
was the perfect place to do it. A few months
later, Drew popped the question while he and
Kate were on a hike near Darwin Lake in the
Galápagos Islands.
BUTTERFLY BLISS
The couple had to make some last-minute changes
due to a tropical storm barreling through, but
44 | REAL WEDDINGS
that didn't keep their big day from being just
as wonderful as they'd hoped it would be. Drew
and Kate wrote personalized vows for each other,
and " the emotional connection and feeling " of
the entire ceremony and that special moment of
sharing their promises to each other is a memory
they'll remember forever.
Stylish navy and gold details were balanced with
bursts of vibrant yellow, maroon, blue, orange
and peach florals featured in the ceremony and
reception arrangements. Kate absolutely adores
butterflies, so much so that she had a whole
bouquet of them and even clipped one into her
hair as the finishing touch to her gorgeous updo.
Butterflies could also be spotted among flowers in
the table centerpieces and Drew's boutonniere.
LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
Blacksburg Country Club was the perfect blend
of a relaxed and sophisticated venue for the
newlyweds' reception. Guests snacked on a
delicious assortment of fruits, vegetables, crackers
and cheeses and stopped at the bar to order up
the couple's signature cocktail, a hot buttered
toddy, before dinner was served. In lieu of a
traditional wedding cake, Drew and Kate opted
for a lovely dessert table featuring macarons and
other bite-sized treats.
Kate and Drew are still in awe of all the
incredible moments their photographer captured
throughout the day, especially those of the two
of them enjoying the " spectacular " fireworks
display at the end of their beautiful celebration.
