I
t's been a year since we launched this
magazine as what other people in the
industry still regard as a regressive experiment
or at best a dare. Print is dead, they
say. Why do all that work and pay all that
money translating what we do on the website
to the static format in front of you now?
The answer is easy. Stack a few paper
pages together with beautiful layouts, and you
achieve a kind of authority that all the web
pages in the world can't match.
TheWealthAdvisor.com is trapped on the
screen. Wealth Advisor Magazine travels
with you. Leaf through it. Pass it on. Cut out
the good parts, and tape them where you can
see them.
Space is limited when you're working to the physical page. There's no time for
trivia we'll read today and forget tomorrow. Every word is precious, and once you
send it to the printer, you're stuck with it. The magazine becomes something like a
permanent record of the industry as we see it.
We do this because it works. The experiment has paid off. The lift hasn't gotten
much lighter, but every issue, we get stronger. Old muscles come back to life.
Thanks to the entire team for working so hard.
This time around, we're back at Future Proof, where it all began, with a
refresher course on what the festival is all about and how to get the most out of
your days on the beach. We'll repeat the invitation: come to the booth and say
hello. Maybe you want some time on camera.
Elsewhere in this issue, we profile a " tactical " fund that's deploying a lot of big
science to achieve one simple goal: beat the S&P 500 reliably. No endorsement
implied, but the ideas are compelling stuff.
And as always, we've saved a few pages for showcasing our own experiments
and experiences across all advisory channels. Hold onto this magazine. Wherever
you are on the cutting edge, you'll probably recognize your future here in the years
to come.
Of course, you're also free to recycle it. If you don't want the clutter or the
weight, give the dead tree back to nature. The words live online, weightless like
vapor. The feel of these pages in your hands is the real deal.
