Growing Globally
Brian Cohn, president, Multi Parts
Supply (MPS), has been working
in the aftermarket for more than
three decades, starting out as a light
bulb stocker at the age of six for his
father Barry Cohn's jobber store.
"My father is the only reason I am in
the industry," said Cohn. "I began
working more closely with my father
throughout college. I had no real
intention of joining the industry. My
father suggested I go live in Italy
for a few months as a benefit to our
dealings in the international market
space. That wasn't a hard sell."

WORDS TO LIVE BY:
To be fair these are my father's words. I try
to honor them every day. "We are Cohns."
That means we are bound to do things the
right way. That mindset guides our family
in life and in business.

After studying international studies
and rhetorical studies at Northwestern
University, Cohn uses these skills
towards his current position at MPS.
"Understanding branding and human
behavior as it relates to a brand is
key to our success and that of our
customer partners as well," said Cohn.
MPS has also been highly involved
with the Auto International Association
(AIA) for more than 25 years,
serving as a member of its Executive
Leadership Council since 2002.
"The original mission of the AIA
was to serve the needs of people
who dealt specifically in import car
parts," said Cohn. "In the 12 years
I've been with the association, we've
transitioned. Now, we work to ensure
the free and global trade for our
members and sister industries. This is
a wider scope mission and responsibility, but the rewards of our efforts
are exponentially greater for the
members and all our livelihoods."
Cohn is also excited about the
AAIA rebranding initiative to
be rolled out in April 2014.
"Right now, the rebrand is at the forefront of everyone's radar. I can't overestimate what it will do for our members,"
said Cohn. "Outside the industry the
rebrand has the power to motivate a
