TAILOR-MADE SUPPORT
DENISE Truvillion has only been
with the Auto Care Association
for six months and already she
is making her mark as manager,
board and executive affairs, where
she is responsible for supporting
Bill Hanvey, president and CEO.
"I support the board of directors,
Executive Committee and Nominating
Committee, and I provide administrative
support to the CEO," said Denise. "My
days involve scheduling meetings,
making travel arrangements and
working on other projects for Bill."
Born in Brooklyn and raised in
Queens, N.Y., Denise brings a unique
background to the association with
experience in fashion, the non-profit
and corporate world, and academia.
She has worked as a consultant at
Baruch College integrating art into
the undergraduate curriculum, at
Girl Scouts of the USA as project
manager of human resources and
diversity, and at Time Warner, Inc.
and Home Box Office (HBO).
"I went to the Fashion Institute
of Technology to study fashion
merchandising. Over time, I realized that
I was more interested in fashion design,
tailoring and dressmaking than I was
in merchandising," Denise said. "I have
become an accomplished seamstress
and tailor. I have made quite a few bridal
gowns and prom dresses for family and
friends, and the photos of my youngest
niece in her ballet tutus are priceless."

Denise has seamlessly integrated
into the auto care industry as a
spokesperson for its initiatives in
telematics and international reach.
"I feel that I have joined the
organization just in time to experience
some very interesting and exciting
changes. I have had the opportunity
to explain what telematics is to a few
people and have seen the light come
on the moment they understood
the concept and significance. With
advances in technology, most people
do not understand the implications
of what will happen in the future or
what their options are," Denise said.
Back at the association
headquarters, Denise carries a
willingness to work with others,
attention to detail and a belief that
pitching in whenever and wherever
needed is extremely important
to the success of any team.
"The association has a small, but
mighty work force! It is wonderful to
see how dedicated the staff is to the
mission of the organization and the
membership," said Denise. "The number
of events and conferences coordinated
annually is outstanding, and Bill is
dedicated to supporting our members
and collaborating with our partners."
