the mentor program

	 Only 7.3 percent of automotive
repair and maintenance employees
are - you guessed it - women 3. Each
year, Women in Auto Care tackles
this challenge by awarding multiple
scholarships for high school and postsecondary female students. When
the scholarship program began in
2004, Women in Auto Care awarded
$2,000. Since that time, through
increased organizational funding, the
scholarships have now grown to more
than $60,000 and continue to grow.
	 Now in its 14th year, the Women
in Auto Care scholarship program
has awarded more than $240,000
to female students. Women in Auto
Care is eager to keep the growth of
its scholarship program continuing,
with a goal to award $75,000 in
scholarships and $25,000 in tools (a
total value of $100,000) for 2018.

Care is celebrating 20 years of its
Automotive Communication Awards,
which recognize the outstanding
marketing, advertising, public
relations and communications efforts
of companies and agencies that
provide automotive information.

Mentoring
	 Women in Auto Care offers a
mentoring program (launched in 2014)
for active members of our organization.
The program is intended to give
mentors the opportunity to use their
industry knowledge and experience to
help encourage and guide their mentees
to become the future leaders in the
auto care industry they aspire to be.
	 Once members express interest
in the program, Women in Auto Care
works to match available mentors
and mentees based on preferences
they provide. Women in Auto Care
also offers matching and meet-andgreet sessions at its conferences to
provide participants the opportunity
to get to know each other in person.
After the mentor and the mentee
are paired, they set their own goals,
objectives and agendas.
