event schedules. Scott Kim kicked things off with the chapter's latest offering,
iRacing. iRacing has really taken off recently and looks to be a great addition to
NCC's list of programs. iRacing, simulated online racing, is perhaps the next best
thing for keeping your high-performance driving skills sharp when you don't have
the opportunity to drive on a real-life course or track. Please check out Scott's
iRacing article in this issue of dB!
Next, Chris Wootten gave an overview of the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) program. DIY is
an opportunity for like-minded enthusiasts to get together at a local shop to work on
their cars. He then turned the microphone over to Mary Snyder who described the
Ladies' DIY program, which gives priority registration and time using the automotive
lifts to women.

Rafael Garces spoke about Street Survival, the car control clinic for teen drivers,
which has an event scheduled for October of this year. Street Survival's goal is to
teach teen drivers the car control skills, and more importantly, the situational
awareness and judgement to keep them safe.
Steve Tenney, the Karting program head, introduced the Karting program, with his
M4 and X6M providing a beautiful backdrop to his video. Go Kart racing allows for
real racing in a fun, low-speed environment.

One of our esteemed volunteers, Mindi Villaroman, shared a video of her E92 335xi
and E93 335i -- both tastefully modified vehicles.
Robert Hopkins, the NCC Secretary and Tourmeister, gave an overview of the Tours
program and walked us through a typical Tours event. Tours are social group drives
to local points of interest around Baltimore, DC, and Northern Virginia via the
scenic route.
George Hovis, the leader for HPDE Instructor Academy (IA), gave updates on the
NCC HPDE program and shared a video of his daughter driving at an HPDE event.
The primary goal of these HPDEs is to give you an opportunity to develop and hone
your car-control skills, in a controlled environment, with an experienced instructor.
The primary goal of Instructor Academy is to train in-car instructors for HPDE.

Fraser Dachille, our NCC Autocross head, spoke about the NCC Autocross program
which has its first event scheduled for August. Autocross is a motorsports event.
Typically conducted in a large parking lot, that emphasizes car control and
performance handling. Autocross differs from track events in that the speeds
typically remain under 60 mph and has less straightaway and many more turns.
Mike Bevels (hey, that's me!) gave a brief overview of dB, encouraging article
and photo submissions for our chapter magazine. Der Bayerische is one of NCC's
primary vehicles for communicating news about our chapter and our events to
members.

James Laws spoke about the NCC Concours program. A Concours is a "clean-car
contest" and car show, where your car is judged by its condition, appearance, and
