cleanliness. The Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance has been rescheduled to
October 4th of this year and will be held at a new venue, Occoquan Regional Park.
Doug Verner, the head of the M Club Day program was the last to present.
Doug spoke about his program (more on this in a bit) and then introduced the guest
speaker, Mike Renner. Mike is a professional driver for BMW and handles both
instructor duty and corporate sales at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, South
Carolina. Mike is a great friend of the chapter and has participated in and spoken
at a number of chapter events.

Mike Renner spoke about the BMW Performance Center and noted that the M Club
Day program has added the new BMW M8s, in addition to the existing M4s and
M5s. The program provides a very full day of learning about performance driving
and provides a lot of seat time in the latest BMW M cars on the track, autocross
course, and skid pad. Currently M Club Day events are scheduled for August and
October of this year.
Following the program presentations, the Zoom meeting was opened up for Q&A.
Paul Seto asked Mike Renner about the recent announcement from BMW ending the
European Delivery Program. Mike said they expect to see an increase in the number
of deliveries at the Performance Center in Greer. A typical Performance Center
delivery includes a hotel stay, dinner, and full day at the Performance Center.
The delivery day consists of time on the skid pad and handling course as well as
running braking exercises. Customers are also treated to a tour of the factory
and museum and a delivery specialist walks the customer through all their
new car's features.
One member asked about the upcoming August M Club Day event. Mike Renner
and Doug Verner then went on to describe what happens at an M Club Day event.
Participants receive driving instruction in the classroom and on the track throughout
the day, driving the latest M Cars. The activities include competitive driving events
in the afternoon. To wrap up Q&A, Jack Raymond asked Mike Renner to discuss
oversteer and understeer. Mike defined both terms and went on to give examples of
each and methods used to recover from each -- something that is practiced at both
M Club Day and Street Survival events.
One aspect that I love about typical NCC Open Houses and New Member Events is
the Cars & Coffee portion. This virtual event did not disappoint! The members who
gave presentations during this virtual event all shared what was in their garages.
In addition to seeing the vehicles, seeing everyone's garage was certainly a cool new
aspect to Cars & Coffee.

Paul wrapped up the event by encouraging everyone to keep an eye on NCC's social
media, website, email, and chapter magazine (which you're reading right now!) for
event updates. One thing is clear, regardless of when in-person events will start up
again, NCC will continue to innovate and provide its members with fun and engaging
activities and events in safe and controlled environments. In the meantime,
I've started researching iRacing rigs as the club's new iRacing program has really
piqued my interest.
