Maryam: Reese does enjoy
diagnosing issues with cars. Since
Fairfax Service Center is a familyowned business, he diagnoses all the
cars and oversees every repair. I can
tell he's always thinking about the
cars, even at home. Sometimes
during dinner he'll say that he's
figured out why a particular car is
having issues. As part of my job, I
call the customers with updates on
parts and repairs. I stay on top of
everything so we have good
communication and a personal
relationship with the customer.

services in addition to all minor and
major repair services for all years,
makes, and models of BMW,
Mercedes-Benz and MINI Cooper.
We have state-of-the-art equipment
and diagnostic tools (alignment
machine, road force balancer, etc.)
and everything is done on site.
We are also an authorized Dinan
Performance Center in addition to
being a Bosch Car Service facility.
dB: What is your favorite part of your
job at Fairfax Service Center?
Reese: My favorite aspect of the
business is diagnosing the customers'
cars. I recall one particular time a
customer, Mr. Meekins, who had his
'95 525i towed to our shop. Another
shop had quoted him $9,000 to
replace the engine, which showed
signs of low compression (around
50psi across cylinders). We took a
look at the engine and determined the
rings were likely stuck. We filled each
cylinder with special oil and let it sit
before attempting to fire the engine.
Once we fired the engine it ran really
well and compression tests showed
175psi across all cylinders. After
replacing the spark plugs and some
other items, Mr. Meekins's bill was
less than $400. Needless to say he
was very happy and became a regular

customer. He still drives that car to
this day.
(dB had the chance to talk to Warren
Meekins about this experience and
Warren remembered it vividly.
Warren's response is below.)
Warren Meekins: I can't speak highly
enough of Reese and his work. I'm a
real Reese-and-Maryam fan. He's an
honest man, he's a great mechanic,
and he KNOWS engines. I'm 73
years old and a Vietnam vet; I've
been around the block. I do
remember my first time taking the '95
525i to Reese 15 to 20 years ago.
I had taken the car to another shop
where they said I need to replace the
engine due to low compression; that
would have cost over $9,000. I took
it to Fairfax Service Center and after
I dropped off the car at their shop,
Maryam called me the following
week and said my car was ready.
I couldn't believe it. It only cost $320
and the engine still runs strong to
this day. The 525i had 90,000 miles
on it then and it has 220,000 miles
on it now and it still runs great.
Reese really knows how to diagnose
cars properly and won't needlessly
charge customers for parts they don't
need in the process of diagnosing
a problem.

Reese: My favorite personal car is my
1997 E36 M3, equipped with a Dinan
supercharger.
Maryam: I really like E46 M3
convertibles. I don't currently own
one, but hope to someday.
dB: What NCC programs do you
support?
Reese and Maryam: We have hosted
NCC DIY events at our shop.
Like the NCC DIY program, we
believe routine and preventative
maintenance is essential for long,
trouble-free ownership. We are a

Dinan Performance Center and a car
needs a solid foundation before
enhancing performance aspects.
dB: What is your favorite movie in
the car, car-chase, heist, or racingrelated genre?
Reese and Maryam: We really liked
The Art of Racing in the Rain -- the
dog, Enzo, was great. We also liked
Ford Vs. Ferrari -- the mechanic /
driver character, Ken Miles, was very
powerful.
dB: Is there anything else that Fairfax
Service Center would like to
communicate to dB's readership?
Reese and Maryam: We are a family
business and we are always on site
for all hours the shop is open.
We consider ourselves part of your
car family. We are here to support all
the NCC BMW CCA members and to
help get your BMW running great.
Please support small businesses in
your community!
dB: Thanks so much for your time!
Reese and Maryam: You're welcome!
