The Layover

udging by the crowded airports and the fully loaded airplanes, this
country is coming out of last year's pandemic with a bang. The unique
American ability to get things done, as well as the application of the
products of American-funded research and American technology led to the
successful results of Operation Warp
Speed.
The increasing vaccination
rates, cabin fever and increased
savings are quickly reviving our
economy. With business travel
returning to the pre-pandemic levels
also comes the dark side of that
activity - flight delays and cancellations.
This
all translates to an increasing
number of unplanned extremely
long layovers. And sitting around an
airport, even if you have airline
lounge membership, is not pleasant.
But if you find yourself in this situation
at any of the Los Angeles area
airports (LAX, John Wayne, Bob
Hope, Ontario), you can pleasantly
pass the time by feeding your carenthusiast
soul.

Museum¹ is a mecca for the car enthusiast. Established in 1994, this museum
has evolved from providing a history of Southern California car culture to one
sound familiar to automotive enthusiasts.

CARToons, Motorlife, and Motorcyclist
magazines were part of the
foundation of his publishing empire.
Written and edited by true journalists
whose experience in the custom-car
and OEM world, the credulity,
knowledge, and integrity shown in
those past issues contrasts astoundingly
with today's " me like car, me go
fast " hacks and the self-important,
irrelevant, curmudgeonly web sites.
While it's an extra ticket, visiting
The Vault is well worth the money.
Also an evolving collection, the
uniqueness of the displayed vehicles, as well as the stories behind their development
and evolution, make this exhibit the museum well worth the extra price.
