front lot. Paul Seto's prediction was
correct, as members started pulling
into the lot well in advance of the 10
a.m. official start. For the car show,
vehicles were divided into two
categories: M and Series (non-M).
While many excellent cars
participated, including an outlying
original-owner 1960s notchback
Porsche 356, two lucky BMW owners
took home the bragging rights
by being voted best in show for
their particular category.
In the Series category, Jim
Gerock received the most votes for
his Riviera Blue 1969 2002. You
may recall Gerock's '69 2002
from a Traditions article in the
September/October 2016 issue of
der Bayerische magazine, detailing
his impressive and thorough
restoration. Not only was Gerock's
2002 the clear winner of the
Series/Non-M category, but it was
also the favorite of our host. " When
I was in college I used to always
love the 2002s and dream about
them, and I'm seeing a beautiful one
right here today " , Hellmuth said as
he pointed to Gerock's car. Well
deserved, Jim!
In the M category, Fabian
Manan clinched the victory with his
newly purchased Alpine White 2013
E92 M3 with Competition Package.
While Manan owns other BMWs,
including a very clean E36 M3, the
E92 Comp was a recent purchase.

How recent? He picked it up a week
before the event. This low-mileage
example is adorned with Dinan
parts and a number of optional
factory packages. It's a proper sixspeed
manual and the throaty, highrevving
V8 engine is what dreams
are made of. Excellent pick-up,
Fabian!
While I'm sure both Car Show
winners were pleasantly surprised,
I had a surprise of my own when I
unexpectedly ran into Florida-based
