that I use to keep my car immaculate.
Exhaust tip cleaning: Stainless
Steel polish with a cone shaped
foam applicator on a drill, all the
way into the muffler baffles. Then
wrap the drill applicator with a
microfiber cloth, shove it into the tip
and buff to perfection. Next hand
buff the tips, muffler, and pipes with
polish. See a spot? Redo until it
shines! Let the product work hard,
not your hands.
Plastic under hood trim: Apply
303/Vinyl Protectant, let it sit up 24
hours, and then buff off with a
microfiber cloth. I was turned on to
303 by Mark Elie and have found
the product will penetrate multiple
resin/plastic compounds that
other products will not. The soakin
period is the only way to reach
perfection. For some parts, it
requires multiple applications to
gain an even look. I now buy every
chemical by the gallon to refill the
20-32 oz spray bottles.
Weather stripping: Clean
with 303 and a microfiber cloth.
Go back over with 303, let it set up
24 hours, and then wipe it down.
Use Speed Shine on all the painted
surfaces for a clean glossy look.
Get out your creeper and do the
bottom of each door and sill until it
shines!
Tools: Proper cleaning tools will
allow you to work down to the
smallest cracks. I was introduced to
little sponges on a stick that allow
you to treat and clean everything,
including hinges, and hard-to-reach
spots. Use a toothbrush and a
microfiber towel on every seam and
door jam to remove excess wax,
dust, and dirt.
Products: I use Griot's Garage's
entire catalog of items to " have fun
in [my] garage. " I use 3M Adhesive
Remover for tar and cosmoline
