Also, let's not forget about our biggest upcoming event of them all, O'Fest
Forever. Held in beautiful Palm Springs, CA, this national CCA gathering is always
the highlight of the year. With several events held at the BMW Performance Center
West in Thermal, we have an action-packed schedule of all things BMW, plus
things for the significant other and rest of the family to do. So why a vacation in

Road trip! As of writing this in April, I'm preparing to go to my second Vintage
event in Asheville, NC, which is scheduled for late May. I'll be taking the same
" vintage " BMW, a '91 318is. I'll be staying at the same hotel. I'll be traveling
on the same days. One difference this year: I'll have a passenger. I'm taking
my eight-year-old daughter, Avery, with me!
Making the 500-mile trek to Asheville in a 31-year-old BMW is an
adventure. In addition to a trunk full of tools and spare parts (hopefully
untouched), it's nice to have a safety net composed of knowledgeable NCC
enthusiasts. What better way to road trip than to caravan and share the
experience with fellow NCC members?
Avery and I are both very much looking forward to a full itinerary of
activities. We'll drive parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway, visit the new exhibit
at the BMW CCA Foundation's Ultimate Driving Museum, stop by the
BMW Zentrum, explore the Biltmore, go hiking, and of course attend the
Vintage event itself on Saturday.
My soon-to-be five-year-old son, Carter, has expressed some
disappointment that he's not making the Vintage trip with us, but he's on
deck for next year. In the meantime, I'll be taking him to plenty of
automotive events. In fact, this weekend we'll be stopping by the
Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance to check out the arrays of BMW,
Mercedes, and Porsche entries. We're penciling in some NCC Tours over
the coming months as well.
With different NCC events nearly every weekend, there's always
something to choose from. We hope to see you at some upcoming
