I want to credit Paul and Brenda Dunlevy (Tarheel) and Paul Seto
(National Capital) for making the corral happen again. We had a visit from Ken
Payne from Michelin to give away a gift and talk about upcoming availability
of new tire models. Liqui Moly sent their Maryland/DC/Virginia regional
representative, Chapin Hanna. Chapin spent the entire weekend with us and
made sure that we had plenty of fluids available. We even had a visit from
Connie Nyholm (VIR Owner/CEO) to show her appreciation of our continued
support.
The corral is more than just a
place to park your car and to
spend time in the tent getting out
of the sun. A lot of effort goes into
collecting items to raffle as door
prizes, including some very
special awards. The BMW
Performance Driving School
always provides a certificate for
one of their activities with Mike
Renner there to be the presenter.
The National Capital Chapter
provides an HPDE gift certificate.
This year we had several special
visitors, including Miss Virginia
(Kailee Horvath) and American
Idol finalist (Dan Marshall).
We also had Dan Lubin, the Motorsport Manager from BMW North America,
visit the tent to spend time with us and answer questions. In addition, the
corral organizes group visits to the teams in the paddock to hear from their
leadership and the drivers. We had visits with BMW M Team RLL, Turner
Motorsports, and Paul Miller Racing. It's special to have face-to-face visits
with the drivers and the team management. We hear some of their stories and
just a little about what their upcoming race strategies might be. Certainly, one
of the most important people attending the race was Dan Lubin. He is involved
with all the BMW teams as the North American factory manager, from the
factory supported GTD Pro BMW M Team RLL to the newest BMW customer
competitor, Paul Miller Racing. Dan came from the dealerships, having started
his BMW career as a Master Technician and coming all the way to a corporate
position. Mike Renner brings his team to conduct hot lap rides on the
track in the latest M-Cars. They currently use the G80 M3 to provide us with
an on-track experience and a fun
ride. Mike comes to the corral
and provides a certificate to the
lucky person with the lucky raffle
ticket. This year the Performance
Center provided a Track Meet
Certificate. It was won by
Adrienne Liu from the Tarheel
Chapter. The HPDE Certificate
from the National Capital Chapter
was won by Joe Foy, also from the
Tarheel Chapter.

their hauler for a short discussion
away from the noise of the
paddock and in cooler temperatures. John Edwards and Connor De Phillippi
told us about their typical activities and how they are doing with the relatively
new M4 GT3. Connor was the driver given the honor of the first rollout drive
of the new BMW LMDh car that will begin competing at the Daytona 24 Hours
in January 2023. Development is ongoing in Europe with testing to move to
the U.S. in September. He could only tell us a little about the car and its hybrid
