NCC Summit Point Shenandoah
HPDE earlier in the year. She convinced
him to come to the Cars &
Coffee to see the cars and meet
existing members. Malik brought
his modified 2011 128i, which
stood out amongst the crowd. He
purchased the 128i in December of
2020 and quickly got to work
personalizing it with a custom
" mermaid metallic " paint job, a new
suspension that provided a lower
stance, new wheels and tires, and
more. Malik comes from a background
of muscle cars such as his
'86 IROC Z, '87 El Camino, and '96
Impala, but it sounds like he may
now be a BMW convert as he's
already searching for an M3 to add
to his stable. He enjoys photography
and is looking forward to more
NCC meets. Welcome, Malik!
The air-conditioned tour of the
Passport Collision Center was a
nice way to escape the heat.
Passport BMW has been a longtime
supporter of our chapter and
provided an excellent venue for this
event. Passport BMW will also
be hosting an exclusive NCC
Oktoberfest¹ event on October 23rd
that you won't want to miss, so keep
your eyes on the NCC calendar for
more details. To kick off the tour,

Elgin, gave an overview of their
operation. Passport is a BMW
Certified Collision Repair Center in
addition to being experts in carbon
fiber and aluminum repair. They
have a two-building system: the
reception and front office building
and the production building. Mark
also gave some insight into working
with insurance companies and
the repair estimate process. He
turned things over to the front office
manager, Justin Hallock, who
walked everyone through the
reception and intake process for
customers and their vehicles. Our
group then headed over to the
second building, where production
manager, David Hoai, showed us
where the repair work is performed.
The facility was very clean and we
were able to see a number of
BMWs, like a new M5 Competition,
in the midst of being repaired.

The last item on the schedule,
specifically for new members, was
the New Member Welcome reception.
NCC President, Paul Seto,
kicked things off with an introduction
and overview of our chapter.
We're the largest chapter in the
world with almost 5,000 members.
We're the most active with over 100
events per year. In fact, this year the
club is fitting a year's worth of
events into a six month time period,
so there are multiple events planned
every week. Paul encouraged new
and existing members alike to take
advantage of their membership and
get out to events. With such depth
and breadth of automotive enthusiast
activities, there's a great chance
you'll find something that you like.
Paul, and our Vice President,
James Laws, pointed out that our
volunteer-run, 501(c)(7) non-profit
organization wouldn't be successful
without our group of volunteers to
make it possible. Paul stated that
" our group of volunteers is [his]
second family " and that sentiment
was echoed by many of the longtime
members in the room. He
opened up the floor to the club
program heads to give short
presentations and answer any
