PRESIDENTS' MESSAGES

SOP Looks to Build on Supreme Convention Momentum

Sons of Pericles
Supreme President
Bill Poulos III

It is an honor and privilege to address the AHEPA family as Sons of Pericles Supreme President. I
congratulate my fellow Ohioan, Supreme President Carl Hollister; DOP Grand President Eva Jean Fomalont, and MOA Grand President Sophia Shakolas, and their respective lodge officers, on their elections. We look forward to the upcoming year, strengthening ties and building our futures together.
The newly-elected Supreme Lodge is comprised of determined and enthusiastic young men.
They are: Supreme Vice President Gregory Vourloumis, Atlanta, Ga.; Supreme Secretary Chris
Tavantzis, Bayside, N.Y.; Supreme Treasurer Fred Docous, Albany, N.Y.; Supreme Governor Timothy
Noitsis, Toronto, Ont., Canada; and Supreme Athletic Director Paul Pavlakos, Tallahassee, Fla. This
group has the potential to make the Supreme Lodge the strongest one on which I have served, and
I look forward to working diligently with them to garner success for our Junior Order.
We aspire to capitalize on the momentum of a successful Supreme Convention as the Supreme
Lodge aims to tackle many different issues and continue our growth. We are excited to launch our
"Plus 5 Initiative;" a plan to help us expand (see Periclean section). Our basketball tournaments
remain as popular as ever and are a constant source of fellowship and fundraising.
Additionally, the Sons of Pericles is committed to raising money for St. Basil Academy in a joint
national project with the Maids of Athena. Our members are honored to stand alongside the Maids
to raise funds for this worthy project. Together, we are confident we can make a significant impact.
Please contact me, or any Supreme Lodge member, should you need anything. Best wishes to
everyone for a successful year.

THE AHEPAN ยท Fall 2017

It is my honor to address the AHEPA family as the Maids of Athena Grand President. Congratulations, again, to Supreme President Carl Hollister, DOP Grand President Eva Jean Fomalont, SOP
Supreme President Bill Poulos, and their lodges, on their elections. We look forward to continued
growth and collaboration between all the Orders of the AHEPA family this year.
The newly-elected Grand Lodge consists of: Grand Vice President Tatiana Tsaprailis, Calgary,
Alb., Canada; Grand Secretary Theodora Ronstadt, Chicago; Grand Treasurer Kyra Vidas, Chicago;
and Grand Governor Vasi Hatzopoulos, Ottawa, Ont., Canada. In the year ahead, the Grand Lodge
is focused on: increasing and retaining membership; MOA brand recognition and public relations;
and philanthropy. I am confident with this new, motivated and enthusiastic group of leaders, we will
achieve new heights as an organization.
Additionally, the Maids of Athena is committed to raising money for Saint Basil Academy in
Garrison, N.Y. as a joint national project with the Sons of Pericles. Also, we will fundraise for the
Cyprus Children's Fund, a project I have selected as my President's Project, in honor of my parents
and Cypriot heritage.
Lastly, the Grand Lodge has selected Unity as the organization's yearlong theme. It is in unity-as
sisters, chapters, districts, and as an AHEPA family-that we believe we can accomplish all our goals.
Therefore, we are dedicated to working in unity alongside the rest of the AHEPA family to continue
to expand our reach and influence.
Please feel free to contact me, or any lodge members, if we can be of assistance. On behalf of the
Maids of Athena, we extend our best wishes for a successful year!
