Facility Underway in
Mishawaka, Indiana
Foundation construction work has begun at Hellenic Senior Living of
Mishawaka. General contractor Shield Sexton reports that in June, grading was completed as well as basement footings, water service piping,
and the formation of elevator pits. July accomplishments include the
formation of basement foundation walls, installation of storm piping,
as well as road work along Logan Street. In August, masonry stair tower
work and first floor footings were added to the progress.
Todd Jensen, director of Development for Hellenic Development
Inc./AHEPA Management Company, noted, "We also successfully completed a water and sewer line installation project in conjunction with the
City of Mishawaka which was a departure from our original plans. The
City approached AMC about redesigning our sewer and water lines to
coincide with its utility-related project on S. Logan Street. The work was
completed this summer while the students from the high school across
the street (Marian High School) were on summer break. In addition to
meeting the City's request, we were also able to save approximately
$40,000 by participating in Mishawaka's redesigned utility project."
The work that is scheduled as we transition to fall includes: completion of the foundation walls, construction of the elevator masonry
shafts, waterproofing of the foundation walls and elevator pits, installation of site utilities and the completion of the stair towers. Framing
also is scheduled to begin.
