District 6
AHEPA Chapter 140, Albany, N.Y.
Brother Chris Pappis, who serves as District 6 Secretary, received the first-ever "Life Saver"
Award presented by James Plevritis - Joseph C. Keane Evzone AHEPA Chapter 405 for his
outstanding services to AHEPA, District 6, and Chapter 405, in particular. Brothers representing Chapter 405, Supreme Governor Tom Dushas, Harry Fotiadis, and John Copulos,
presented Brother Pappis with the award at the Supreme Convention in Chicago. Among
Pappis' many talents, he is also referred to as the District 6 Secret Weapon! Then-Supreme
Governor George Karatzia described Pappis as "...a truly shining example of an Ahepan."

Hermes Chapter 186, Astoria, N.Y.
The chapter, together with Daughters of Penelope Ilion Chapter 135, proudly hosted Empire
District 6's Convention, June 7 to 9, 2019. There, Chapter Vice President Vassilios Chrissochos
received the 2019 District 6 Ahepan of the Year Award. Events included a welcome gathering at
Anable Basin Sailing Grill in Long Island City and a performance by the Greek American Folklore
Society at the Cathedral of Saint Demetrios and the Petros G. Patrides Cultural Center in Astoria.

AHEPA Chapter 319, Port Jefferson, N.Y.
The chapter remains quite active since its reactivation in 2017, bringing AHEPA's mission to
Long Island. During Greek heritage month, the chapter secured a proclamation from the Town
of Brookhaven to commemorate Greek Independence Day. The chapter also holds events that
bring the community together and raise money for education, including most recently, a Lenten
Luncheon where 100 bowls of soup were served with leftovers going to feed the needy. The
brothers look forward to their annual fishing trip in September out of Port Jefferson marina
where they had more than 250 catches last year.

Gus Cherevas Estia-Pindus Chapter No. 326, Flushing, N.Y.
The chapter presented scholarship awards to three high school seniors at St. Nicholas Greek
Orthodox Church, June 2, 2019. Sotirea Tavantzis received the $1,500 Gus Cherevas Estia-Pindus
Scholarship, Dionysios Chatzitasi received the $1,500 Peter & Joanne Kokkoris Scholarship, and
Ioannis S. Melissourgos received the $1,500 Van Pappas/Estia-Pindus Scholarship. In addition, the
chapter presented $250 scholarship awards to each of four graduating students of the St. Nicholas'
Wm. Spyropoulos Greek School (2), and the Stephen & Areti Cherpelis Hellenic School; and a $250
scholarship award to a student of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church School in Astoria, N.Y.
Scholarship Committee co-chairman Dean Moskos, and Protopresbyter Fr. Paul Palesty, presented the awards.

James Plevritis - Joseph C. Keane Evzone AHEPA Chapter 405, New Rochelle, N.Y.
The chapter proudly hosted the graduate luncheon for the community, presenting numerous scholarships and recognizing families for raising outstanding young adults at Holy
Trinity Church in New Rochelle, June 2, 2019. More than 200 guests attended the festive
tribute to this year's graduates. Fr. Nicholas Anctil spoke elegantly about this year's graduating class and the impressive diversity of the universities the graduates will attend. Chapter
President Harry Fotiadis, assisted by Chairman Emeritus Joseph C. Keane, Past Supreme
Governor Tom Dushas, and Chapter Vice Chair James Zafiros, presented the awards.
