Chapter 319 Port Jefferson, N.Y.
Gus Cherevas Estia-Pindus Chapter 326, Flushing, N.Y.
In the lead-up to AHEPA Sunday, Long Island
Ahepans ensured the community has PPE by
donating 1,000 masks & 3,000 pairs of gloves to
almost 250 families and parishioners of the Greek
Orthodox Church of the Assumption.
The chapter presented three scholarship awards to high school seniors who
enrolled into college this fall, May 24, 2020. The recipients were: Elaena Marie
Pappas (Van Pappas/Estia-Pindus Scholarship); Christopher Jaupi (Peter &
Joanne Kokkoris Scholarship); and Peter Kakivelis (Andy George in Memory of
his daughter Stella Scholarship). Each recipient received a $1,500 scholarship.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the chapter's scholarship committee presented the
awards committee outside of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Flushing, N.Y.

Long Island Ahepans donated 400 pounds
of canned goods and non-perishables to
feed the county's most vulnerable families impacted by the pandemic. During a
month-long campaign, Ahepans raised
$4,000 and distributed the canned goods
and non-perishables to families and food
pantries across Huntington Township in
Suffolk County. Chapter 500 President
Edwin Rivera, several Ahepans, Father
Lou Nicholas, and members of the community participated at the food drive that
donated to Helping Hand Rescue Mission,
Huntington Station, N.Y.
The chapter raised $2,000 to aid two
community members recovering from
illness and donated $500 to the Greek
Orthodox Archdiocese of America's
COVID-19 Relief Fund. Chapter President
Dr. Tony Danas presented the $500 donation to Archbishop Elpidophoros when
the archbishop visited Holy Cross Greek
Orthodox Church, June 21, 2020. The
chapter also donated 500 "Gyros for
Heroes" platters to front line responders
and are undergoing a goods collection
drive for families in need.
The chapter held its annual dinner dance and apokriatiko glendi,
February 29, 2020, at Holy Cross
Greek Orthodox Church, Whitestone.
District 6 Lt. Governor Dean Moskos,
Chapter President Dimitrios Skartsiaris,
Chapter Treasurer Peter Ragoussis, and
Past District 6 Governor Ted Stamas,
attended.
