A MESSAGE FROM SUPREME PRESIDENT GEORGE G. HORIATES, ESQ.
Hellenism on the Brink
We begin a new AHEPA administrative year unlike any other in our Order's history. AHEPA family
officers continue to work hard and pledge to rededicate every ounce of our faith, confidence and perseverance to our aims and objectives. On behalf of the Supreme Lodge, Board of Trustees, and Board
of Auditors, it is with honor and humility we continue to serve and advance the ideals of Hellenism.
2020 has been a year of delayed decisions and postponed seasons. Society continues, and wisely
so, to endure a pandemic-induced reduction on in-person activities. While we await clearance, I am
pleased to report AHEPA continues to remain ever vigilant in answering the call of duty.

Defenders of Hellenism
This edition of The Ahepan summarizes AHEPA's needed call to combat the lawless and unconscionable actions of Turkey. The Turkish government has stopped at nothing in attacking the territorial
integrity of Greece and Cyprus. Erdogan tyrannically perpetrates economic, cultural, religious, and
historical assaults against every person who treasures the principles of justice, peace, and religious
freedom.
These profoundly disturbing actions to eradicate Hellenism completely will not go unchallenged.
AHEPA will continue to do its part. Deep in our bones, and in these times, we realize these despicable actions are more menacing and consequential than ever before.
The membership drive must continue, it creates stronger advocacy when we talk to world leaders.
Coming in at, or near, last year's numbers because of the pandemic is inexcusable. Get all your
friends and family to join AHEPA, even with virtual initiations now.
AHEPA's core programs continue to excel. In this issue, our innovative use of technology with AHEPA
Live! and other programs is on display. Despite the pandemic, AHEPA's athletic program continued recently with a Global Fishing Tournament. The AHEPA National Housing Corporation held a
ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newest property in Mishawaka, Indiana. AHEPA Cares initiatives
that serve and strengthen society are ongoing and AHEPA-backed COVID-19 research in Greece is
demonstrating progress.
Increasing each chapter's membership and improving upon our active programs are crucial ingredients to Defending Hellenism. Everything we do is interrelated! Educate your public servants, get
them to join the Hellenic Caucus, and encourage them to join AHEPA.
With so much at stake, AHEPA must play through and rise above the pandemic of our times. Refuse
to be in limbo. There is no absenteeism. There is no "opting out."
Hellenism is on the brink.
Answer the call and help AHEPA do its part.
