Antetokounmpo Shines at
"Greek Night at the Bucks"
The AHEPA family of Milwaukee, Wisconsin sponsored "Greek Night at the Bucks"
with NBA All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, January 13,
2017. The Greek American community's youth basketball teams enjoyed a chance
to hang out with the team on the court and shoot some hoops before the game. The
Bucks beat the Miami Heat 116-108 in a game where Antetokounmpo did not disappoint, providing the fans with a gravity-defying dunk early in the game. After the
game, the AHEPA family enjoyed a wonderful meet and greet with Giannis.
AHEPA Mourns Passing of Two HoF Members
Brother Phil Bouzeos, one of the community's all-time supporters of athletic programs, and member of the 1997 AHEPA
Athletic Hall of Fame Class, passed away Jan. 19, 2017, in
Oak Brook, Ill. He was 96. Brother Bouzeos's seminal accomplishment was organizing on an annual basis the National
Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament, serving as the
tournament's president for the last 75 years. Founded in 1931,
the "NHIBT" hosts more than 40 Greek American teams,
including many AHEPA teams, from around the country, in
Chicago each spring. In addition, Bouzeos was an integral
member of the AHEPA organizing committees in the 1970s
that sent several All-Star basketball teams to Greece, consisting of Greek American college players. He reprised his advisory role for the 2008 AHEPA Basketball Odyssey to Greece
AHEPA All-Star Team which consisted of 10 collegiate Greek

American basketball players. In 1968, Phil became a member
of the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame. Phil was survived by
his charming wife of 63 years, Lynne, and his children, Dean,
Dawn and Darcy, and numerous grandchildren.
Brother George Dimit, Toledo, Ohio, passed away, Dec.
18, 2016. He was 91. Brother Dimit was a member of the
2003 AHEPA Athletic Hall of Fame Class, inducted for his
football talents which were on display at the University of
Illinois. His time there included an appearance in the 1947
Rose Bowl where the Fighting Illini routed UCLA, 45-14.
He was a participant in the National Hellenic Invitational
Basketball Tournament for many years. He was predeceased
by his wife, Helen, and survivors include his daughters Mary,
Stacia and Georgette and his sons, Chris and Greg, and seven
grandchildren.
