AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
AHEPA Chapter 158, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
The chapter honored its veterans at a ceremony held at the
Eveready Diner, Hyde Park, Jan. 17, 2017. Fourteen veterans,
ranging from WWII to the Vietnam era, were presented the
AHEPA Medial for Military Service and a certificate. The veterans represented the four branches of the United States Armed
Forces as well as the Hellenic Army. Honored were: Nick
Anastation, Peter Argos, Peter Chamberas, George Garofalis,
Peter Givas, George Katopis, Demetrios Koliopoulos, Theodore
Koliopoulos, Zinas Mavodones, Peter Maroulis, George Roussos,
Angelo Siderias, Constantine Serroukas, and Alecko Stathidis.
James Plevritis-Joseph C. Keane Chapter 405
New Rochelle, N.Y.
At its annual initiation and luncheon, the chapter honored
Brother Nikitas Drakotos for his outstanding contribution to
Hellenism, at the Westchester Country Club, Rye, N.Y., Dec. 3,
2016. Supreme President Andrew Zachariades provided the
Keynote Address. Drakatos served as president of HANAC and
St. Michael's and is a member of the Archon National Council
and Leadership 100. He is a recipient of the highly-coveted
Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Archangel Michael and St.
Spyridon Awards. In a separate event, Chapter 405 held its 3rd
Annual Career Day with a distinguished panel of ten executives who shared their invaluable experiences with students.
The panel held a Q&A with the audience and met individually
with guests following the panel discussion.

The chapter held its annual Christmas Dinner Party at
Delmonico Steakhouse in Albany, N.Y.
AHEPA Chapter 98, New Haven, Conn.
The chapter sponsored an educational forum on the Patriarchate,
Feb. 15, 2017, at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, Orange,
Conn., in tandem with the Archons of the Ecumenical
Patriarchate, Order of St. Andrew the Apostle; the Hellenic Bar
Association of Connecticut, and St. Barbara's Church. Supreme
Governor Jack Isaac and District 7 Governor Greg Simones
were among the many supporters on-hand. The focus of the
lecture was the Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the
Enthronement of His All-Holiness, Patriarch Bartholomew, in
particular his significant accomplishments of a quarter-century
of leadership amongst the worldwide Orthodox faithful. Brother
Nikoforos Mathews, Chapter 99, Stamford, provided the context of Patriarch Bartholomew's significant accomplishments.
Professor George Demacopoulos, Ph.D., historian of the Archons,
and founder and co-director, Orthodox Christian Studies Center
at Fordham University, also presented. Professor Evangelos
Hadjimichael, Chapter 98 president, offered introductions,
and Past Supreme Counselor Gregory Stamos moderated.
