Elkhart AALF Closes
on Financing
AHEPA Affordable Housing Management Company, Inc. closed on the
financing for Hellenic Senior Living of Elkhart, LLC, a new Affordable
Assisted Living Facility (AALF), on November 3, 2017.
Extremely cold temperatures and snowy conditions delayed the
groundbreaking for the future 136-unit facility. It will take place spring
2018. However, there is progress with the project. The existing parking lot
on the site was demolished, and the north building pad is prepped. The
foundation footers are ready to be poured, and two retention ponds on the
east and west of the site are excavated to grade.
According to Todd Jensen, director of Development for AMC and HDI,
completion is estimated for April 2019.
"We are excited to have started construction on our third AALF in
Indiana," says Jensen. "Hellenic Senior Living of Elkhart will provide
much-needed affordable assisted living services to the elderly citizens of
Elkhart and the surrounding area."
Hellenic Senior Living of Elkhart will serve low-income older adults of
at least 62 years of age who need some help to maintain their independence. Residents will have access to on-site medical care, transportation
and activities, and they will be provided with three meals per day.

In Memory: George Anagnostos, 1933-2017
George Anagnostos, president of AHEPA 245, Inc., in Newport, Rhode Island, passed away
December 15, 2017. George was involved with AHEPA Housing for more than 31 years, and
his contributions of time, heart and dedication were an inspiration. In addition to working for
more than two decades to bring affordable senior housing to Rhode Island, George gave his
time as a member of the AHEPA National Housing Corporation's Education Grant Committee.
He also served as:
2003-2006 Executive Committee Board Member of AHEPA National Housing
2007-2014 Vice President of AHEPA National Housing
2014-2015 Executive Committee Board Member of AHEPA National Housing
George was also copy editor for The Ahepan magazine and gathered information and
reporting on activities of the housing companies. George will be missed. May his memory be
eternal.
